If Chess was invented today, it would be an iPhone app with only pawns (but you could upgrade them to queens with an $1.99 in-app purchase).

Nexus S: Even Google can’t do Android updates. -
Google can’t update its own flagship device, released in December 2010, to its own OS, released less than a year later in October 2011. Apple, by contrast, still updates (and sells) the 3GS, released in 2009, to the latest version of iOS, released this month. And all owners of every compatible iPhone get access to the update, whether wired through iTunes or OTA thanks to iOS 5, on day one.

Geometric pornography app rejected by Apple
The Verge needs some help with their math. To quote Gruber, “This is middle school science.”
An amazing set of geometric wallpapers.
Readability recently changed what their service was all about, becoming a direct competitor to Instapaper. This has got a lot of people riled up. The thing is Readability’s Instapaper clone is nicer in almost every way when compared to Instapaper. Having Tehan+Lax work on your application is going to do that. Right now Instapaper seems faster, has a few nicer features, does a better job of yanking content, and is integrated all over the place. I think for a lot of people the nicer interface of Readability and the fact it’s free is going to win out.

I could see a whole collection of these. It could be a real art project.
It’s been some time that we wanted to say those words:
Sparrow iPhone is now available on the App Store.
Like on the Mac, our goal is to offer you a pleasurable yet more efficient way to deal with your mail on your iPhone.
We gave as much space as we could to your content, emphasized the most common actions and made sure power features were quickly accessible and easy to discover.
You can play with the app and discover its features on our website.
Good Sparrowing to you.
If you find Mail lacking this is well worth checking out. The only issue they face is the lack of push mail, though I find that more distracting than anything else. At $3 it seems like a steal.

Now you too can produce your very own Wallace and Gromit.
Mika Mobile’s Future With Android -
They aren’t making any money selling their game for Android. They have some polite but harsh words about the platform.
It’s now my favourite of these simple plaintext writing applications.
Cook’s remarks may be immodest, but they are not hyperbole. No other company could today produce something like this new iPad. Not at these prices, at these quantities, at a worldwide scope, with a content ecosystem and user experience of the iPad’s quality. Apple is in a league of its own, and the iPad exemplifies it.
Apple continues to have next to no competition whatsoever in the tablet market. The iPad 2 now sells for $400 bucks and is probably better than all its more expensive non-Apple competitors. That’s cold.

Hot new iPhone apps by irresponsible developers -
iPhones and iPads are the easiest systems to make accessible in the history of computing. iOS, moreover, is the funnest accessible development environment there ever was. You’ll have a whale of a time testing this shit out. VoiceOver, like an Oscar Pistorius prosthesis, is actually cool.
But if you can’t make it happen in the first place, you suck as a developer.
Strong words from the man of strong words, Joe Clark.
